Weather-related Closures

Weather-related School Closure/Delayed Start Information

When assessing weather conditions, our first priority is the safety of our students and staff. Our administrative team reviews weather conditions well in advance and discusses road conditions and safety issues with a team of public works, weather, safety, and transportation experts. In some cases, staff test road conditions as well. We continue to monitor changing weather conditions and make every effort to finalize our decisions regarding weather-related school closures, delayed starts or early releases in a manner that provides families with sufficient time to plan accordingly.

As we prepare for the upcoming winter season, we would like to make you aware of the snow day procedures we have in place in the event of inclement weather.

The D.C. Everest School District allotted four “built in” snow days for the 2024-25 school year.

If you have any questions that are not answered on this page, please contact your building principal.

Events and Activities

When DCE schools are closed for the day, decisions concerning after-school events and activities (for example, clubs, athletic events, performances, after-school care, Boys & Girls Club) are dependent upon weather conditions. The district will include information about these events when notifying families about the school closure. If the weather improves, some activities or events may be held and parents would be notified. Coaches will reach out to student athletes as needed.
